Dear Friends,

Here is the pictorial review. Hope you enjoy it.

Let me hear from YOU.

Be well,

Darnell

My good friend stop by to lend me a hand at clearing out the last of things at da CONGO.

Congo Living Room 1

CONGO Living room 2

CONGO kitchen and dinning area

I prepare to say my last farewell to my humble abode.

My brother Jamale makes sure nothing is left behind. (Yes....it was his idea to drive the truck up on the grass at 4 o'clock in the morning)

Goodbye 1647 Wingate Blvd

Linda and William ("da Bishop") Gordan....members of Lansing Church of God in Christ....(my city of birth).....life-long friends of the family....have been a constant source of love, advice, and support all of my life.

Dennis ("DJ") Strode, Jr.,....my young friend and musical protege......his father and I were in 7th grade together!!

Opera News - Martina Arroyo - Prelude to Performance

Read an article about my summer oprea training program.

Just some old pics of me as a younster...yes...I have always had fat cheeks

Spending some moments with my precious little ones

Had to also say goodbye to brothers at the Alpha House.

It was nice to see some of my old handywork being displayed ont he walls of the Alpha House. This shield is roughly 26" x 18"

More of that Alpha Spirit

More of my handywork. This piece is about 4' x 9"

And yet some more....

Young Nate Clark...getting ready for frat meeting....looking like an Alpha with the "shirt and tie".....hey nate....you still owe me lunch!

My AP Ronnie Johnson....I am very proud of him and his development

Professor Daniel Washington, my voice teacher during graduate school....I still coach with him ever chance I get.

Dr. Willis C. Patterson....my first voice teacher in undergraduate......and longtime mentor...."great uncle"...and friend.

Jean Schneider....my wonderful coach and accompanist....she taught me a great deal about how to approach a score when learning an opera .

Back in NYC on 125th Street....I think Fantasia was playing at the Apollo that night

A "buy and fry" fish market near 117 in Harlem....the customers take a large metal bowl....make their selections of fresh fish...and then go to the register to pay.....at this point they can opt to have their fish/seafood cooked to order.....fried....grilled...or steamed.

Live crabs!!

(Homage to my AP Khalil...he's of Jamaican descent) Jerk Chicken, Rice and Peas, Cabbage, Plantain, Festival and a Pattie....mmmmm good

A resturant located near Broadway and 140th street....I intend to try the 'family special' one of these days...should be able to eat off of that one for a couple of days!!

Location 117th Street in Harlem....my "dream house"....one day I plan to own this place.....every time I walk pass it....something down inside of me says...."that there belongs to you!"

Ahhh....one day....one day...

Yeah....I have already started thinking about how the new CONGO will be furnished.....everything in NYC is so much about the economy of space

This a sofa the folds out into a very comfortable bed....it also has a built-in storage space that is sturdy enough to hold up to 2,000 lbs of 'stuff"

I just found this elderly man very interesting.....the bright suit....the arrestinly white hair....and the youthful stride.

The new "Harlem Renaissance"....they are movinig out the poor, and the lower-middle class...(which means....the elderly and people of color)...by jacking up the price of rent....and they are renovating these old historic buildings....and turning them into luxury apartments and lofts.....studio apartments that once rented for $400 are now going for $1,200

I walked out side one day and Paramount Pictures had taken over 4 city blocks....producing a new Adam Sandler movie...."I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry"

They had about 5 of these trailers.....I guess this is where the 'stars' hang out when 'on set'

This is the building they were using....I think they actually set it on fire....but no worries....this place will be converted into a luxury condo space before summer 2007

This very kind elderly lady...was cleaning the debris from the sidewalk in front of her brownstone.....I hope she is able to keep her living situation until her dying day.....or until SHE decides she wants to move

Aundi Marie Moore....my dearest and best.....came to NYC for her voice lesson with the famed

Something I really liked about this guys "homemade lookin sports jacket"

I arrive in Washington DC....fresh off of the Chinatown Bus....came in to seem my beloved make her debut with Washington National Opera....she will play Nella in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi

To learn more about "Opera" as in art form....just click here: Idiots Guide to Opera

We sat outside the dressing room with the hope of having a moment with Denyce Graves before her performance of Bartok's Duke Bluebeard's Castle

This is Aundi...and Rebbeca....we are on our way to Aundi's place

Aundi's place in Silver Springs, Maryland

Aundi having her special breakfast .....a waffle and peanut butter

Aundi in her dressing room at Washington National Opera

We had lunch at Maggiano's.......one of her favorite resturants....it has now become one of mine.

They taught me a lesson on cheesecake....I took good notes too!!

I had a GREAT time in Washington DC....and now we say goodbye....
