ABOUT DARNELL

Hailed by the New York Times for his, "show-stealing" stage presence, "rich baritone, precise diction and superb comic timing," Mr. Ishmel made his professional debut with Cincinnati Opera. Encompassing both opera and oratorio, he has performed over two dozen roles including the role of Jake in the 75th Anniversary National Production Tour of the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. With a voice that is even from top to bottom and a timbre naturally suited for Verdi and verismo, he may well be one of America’s finest baritones.
